- Ricky Gervais
We loved him in The Office and his various standups. He is a grumpy man here who has gotten bitter by the loss and the result is .. some of the hilarious lines that just makes you laugh even on serious topics.
- Superb Cast
A TV series does work just on a protagonist and Afterlife knows that. Each and every character and the casting is bang on and they have done a fabulous job. They are so good that at the end of the series if anyone asks you to choose a character you love, you will not be able to decide as all of them have done a great job.
- Different United Kingdom
The UK is mostly shown as London and Big Ben and other fancy stuff. here the UK is shown more in the countryside light. Which makes it fresh and different.
- Heartbreaking love story
Although the protagonist’s wife is in a hospital and she knows she won’t live for long, she still makes videos for her husband which he could watch and help him move on. Their love story is really touching and it will make you go and hug your partner.
- Dog
The Dog in this series plays a very important role and it is the reason why the protagonist hasn’t taken the extreme step of killing himself. A scene where he tries to commit suicide but then hears the dog barking is again masterfully portrayed
- Feel good moments
There are a lot of feel-good moments when the protagonist meets an old lady who too has lost her husband but she is cheerful and in a way makes him take the positive approach
- Only 6 Episodes
Being a British Tv series, it is brief and wonderful hence you can binge watch it in a day or two.
- Breaking the stereotype characters
A prostitute and a drug addict are shown in a very different shade and it makes you care for them. Superbly done
