Indian TV Shows that were notoriously known for their outdated content with the typical storyline of mother in law & daughter in law and their altercation which were trivial in nature but is shown as a huge melodrama. While English TV shows were delivering top-notch content, Indian TV shows were stuck with the same formulae that they have been using for decades. 

But thankfully all of this changed with the introduction of web series and the biggest splash was made by Sacred Games. But regional content & TV shows still remained stagnant and followed the same old principle. But this too was changed by ZEE5 when they released the web series Hutatma which is primarily a Marathi web series with the option of Hindi dubbing. I would go ahead and say that it is one the best Marathi web series out there. If you have not watched Season 1 of the series, then I would strongly suggest you do.

Now that Hutatma Season 2 has launched which takes the story further, let’s discuss some things to know about the new season. 

Story  

The story revolves around how Maharashtra as a state came into existence. As with most stories regarding partitioning of land, this too had a dark past with a lot of bloodshed and sacrifices by Marathi people in order to get the Maharastra that we know today. In the series, the historical occurrence has been intertwined with fictional characters to amplify the drama.

  • A relatively untouched but important story 

The story, although a very important part of Maharastra, there is hardly any movie or TV show revolving around it. When you watch the web series, you too would be surprised how such dramatic real story has never been taken up by anyone from the Hindi or Marathi Film fraternity. But kudos to the creator of Hutatma Season 2 Jayprad Desai, he has done a good job in creating layered characters while narrating an important story. 

 

  • Superb Casting & acting 

The strongest and probably the most important part that made this series super intriguing is the astute casting and superb acting. Anjali Patil, who is the protagonist, has given her finest performance to date. She has captured the anger/aggressiveness and the changes the character undergoes in her journey of Vidyut Sawant beautifully. Similarly, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, Abhay Mahajan, Sachin Khedekar, Ashwini Kalsekar have given powerful performances that remind us of the pedigree of Marathi actors we have in today’s time.

  • Authenticity 

Being a historical fiction series, it’s very important to show the time gone by. Otherwise, the audience will not feel and experience historic times as they were. But thankfully ZEE5 gave a good production budget to Hutatma as the set pieces and the 1950’s Maharashtra looks super authentic and you experience the same for these 2 seasons.

So, if you like Historic stories mixed with fiction that has drama, suspense, politics & thrills, then I would highly recommend you to watch Hutatma Season 2 web series and trust me you would love it.

If you can understand Marathi, I would suggest you watch it in the same language as that’s the original, but if not then you have a Hindi dub version as well.
