Most of us always look for a great deal. That’s is a great product at a cheap price. Especially we Indian people who are known to be the worst discount seeker, there is something in our DNA that wants to get maximum out of our hard-earned bucks.

But little do we understand that it is this exact behavior that attracts Ponzi schemes, scammers and phishing messages and links. Every day we keep ready news about someone getting duped by scammers as the victim fell for a “Too good to be true ” deal.

OLX a market place where we buy and sell things is also infested with such scammers who will dupe you by showing some very lucrative ads.

But don’t worry! This blog will teach you 3 easy but super important tricks to identify fake ads on OLX and stay away from them and report them to OLX. I do such reporting every time I open the OLX app. So let’s get started.

TRICK NO: 1

Price – Too good to be true

This is the most important part to be aware of. If you come across an ad on OLX which has a mouth-watering price or it is too good to be true, then chances are it is a fake or fraud ad.

Look at below genuine ad…

If you see above, the guy is selling a 128 GB iPhone 7 at 9000 bucks which are peanuts and just a once in a lifetime deal. But that’s the catch, it’s a fake ad.

Below are some other such ads with just mind-numbing pricing…

TRICK NO: 2

Profile- Just a couple of hours old

Anyone genuine person selling on OLX will have a profile that is at least a couple of days old. If you come across a profile with a too good to be true price and check his profile to be just a couple of hours old, then it is a fake or fraud ad

Let’s check some ads with the profile only hours old.

You can get a decent Alto at 2 Lakh bucks forget I-20

TRICK NO: 3

Description- Bare or nothing at all

Any person selling on OLX will have some basic description of the product. But these fake geniuses will post something like “All OK ” or “Thanks” some other random shit because they do it every day or every hour hence don’t have the time or knowledge to put the description.

Below is a genuine ad…

As you can see there is plenty of information available about the product.

Now let’s see some fake ads with very little info…..
