Comics and superheroes have always been everyone’s childhood anchor. We looked up to them when we were sad, alone, humiliated or even when we were bored.

I still remember very clearly that when I was around 8 years old I thought Superman was a real thing. I thought if you go the jungle and meditate for 20 years, you can get the power of Superman from god ( This imagination comes from the cocktail of me being a Hindu and watching Tv shows like Ramayana and reading comic books 😛 ). As stupid and naive as it sounds today , I was seriously thinking of doing it then.

So as you can tell comic books and superheroes were very important subject to me. It was only when I became older that i realized most of the superheroes( Spiderman, X-men, Thor, Iron man , Ant man, Fantastic four, Dare devil, Black panther, Captain America.. the list goes on and on ) were the creation of Stan Lee.

So one person single-handedly created an entire genre on which Hollywood has been thriving for more than a decade ?

That’s creativity and imagination on steroids..

Being an amateur writer i know how difficult it is to come up with great stories and characters and here Stan Lee had created one superhero after another like it was a Lego structure. In one of the interview he was asked if he ever faced writers block . To which he laughed and replied ” I don’t even know what it is … and stories are something that come very naturally to me”

After Marvel Studios established itself as the billion dollar superhero movie making machine, Stan Lee’s cameo was something everyone looked out for … and he has made some very cool cameos.

I especially liked the one he made in Avengers – Age of Ultron . It still makes me laugh the way he verbally dissed Thor to have his drink and later realizing his mistake.

Its unbelievable to read that Stan Lee was 95 and was still working… Wow . It goes to show that if you are doing something that you are passionate about you can do it until your last day . There is no such thing as retirement.

Hey Stan Lee … Rest in peace and if you have any trouble in heaven .. you know whom to call .. ( Cough .. Avengers … Cough )
